oneworld MegaDo Giving-Hyatt and Hands On Education

The first oneworld MegaDo was a tremendous success, and a super fun time for travel enthusiasts.  But for me, one of the most exciting parts was the money we raised for charity.  We shattered the old record of $32K by raising over $70,000 for OWMD.

Yesterday, we had the opportunity to present the first check.  With a HUGE assist from Hyatt, we were able to raise over $18,000 for Hands On Education.  Hands On Education’s mission is to help train people with various types of disabilities so they can fend for themselves and enter/re-enter the workforce.  Hyatt has been extremely supportive of their mission, and donated some fabulous prizes for the auction that helped raise a large chunk of the funds.

Below, you can see Jeff Zidell (President, Hyatt Gold Passport), Brigitta Witt (VP of Corporate Responsibility, Hyatt) Tommy Danielsen (MegaDO Grand Poobah), John Ficca (Program Director for Hands On Education) and yours truly at Hyatt’s corporate headquarters in Chicago.  Stay tuned for an even bigger check later in the week!
